Gateway/Crossroads received two grants for the construction of a Remembrance Garden on the school premises.

One of the grants was from the Maryland Retired School Personnel Association which was for $300 and the other was from Hey Westminster, Let’s Be Awesome! and was for $1,000. Mr. Herman applied for and received the grants on Jan. 21 and March 12 respectively.

Mr. Wetzel and Mr. Herman have been exchanging ideas for a while about the Remembrance Garden. They wanted a place for students to be able to go to remember former students who have passed and also to have a welcoming outdoor place where counselors can take kids to talk.

Groundbreaking on the Remembrance Garden will begin this school year and will be located behind the school.
