Welcome to Gateway, Ms. Stewart!

Grace Von Riegen, Staff Reporter

Please help welcome Gateway’s newest teacher, Ms. Stewart. She came to us after teaching at the BEST program at Westminster and is now here teaching World History, Government, and Issues in American Society. This is her seventh year of teaching overall.

Ms. Stewart hasn’t always wanted to be a teacher; in fact, she used to want to be a Marine Biologist. However, she ended up falling in love with social studies and with the help of amazing teachers she decided she wanted to become a teacher herself.

I am currently in Ms. Stewart’s Issues in American Society class and so far it has been a positive experience. She encourages class discussion and has a positive energy while teaching.

Although she misses her students from the BEST program, she is enjoying her time at Gateway and said, “It’s nice that we have a little bit more flexibility and freedom [at Gateway].”

On a personal note, Ms. Stewart enjoys reading, going to the gym with friends,  and watching murder and crime shows. She also expressed her love for naps when she said, “the occasional nap is pretty great.”

I have nothing but positive things to say about Ms. Stewart and I hope she has a great year here at Gateway.
