Mother of Two, Teacher of Many

Ray Swidarski, Staff Reporter

Mrs. Cox has been a big helper to the staff and students at Gateway this year. She began substituting in physical education shortly after Mr. Brant suddenly retired in November.

Prior to working at Gateway/Crossroads, Mrs. Cox was a Naturalist/Outdoor Educator. When her sons were born, she became a stay-at-home mom. Along with teaching, she also works on her Christmas Tree Farm, as well as at the YMCA as a lifeguard.

Mrs. Cox has two sons, a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old. Her husband is an eighth grade Earth science teacher at East Middle School. They like ministry, hikes, running, and working together on their farm. She also spends time with and helps her father-in-law, who has Parkinson’s disease. Mrs. Cox also volunteers at church.

Mrs. Cox loves being with kids and substituting at Gateway. She substitutes two to three days a week and is very flexible to fit in with the rest of her schedule.

I have a lot of hope that Mrs. Cox will continue to work here, and wish her the best of luck and patience — sometimes, you may need it — and a warm welcome. Thank you, Mrs. Cox!
