First Dance a Huge Success

The Gateway School held its first school dance in many years, which was a huge success!

The idea for having a school dance was from one student, Rin Jones, who loved going to formal dances at her home school and wanted to do something that brought Gateway students together. The SGA loved the idea, so they planned and organized nearly every aspect of the dance that was held at the school on Jan. 14, down to the lighting and decorations. They got some help from other students and staff as well, including some handmade snowflakes that decorated the walls of the school.

The dance was well-attended and everyone who went had a great time—there has even been talk (from students) of possibly making this an annual tradition for the school.

The principal, Mr. Wetzel, thanked the SGA, the advisor, Mrs. Ricketts, for planning such an amazingly successful event, and those who volunteered their time saying, “Without such a great faculty and staff, these types of events would not be possible.” Mr. Wargo, the assistant principal, added, the dance was “flawlessly executed.” The overwhelmingly positive responses to this event are a testament to the hard work and dedication of all those involved.
