What does it mean to be a level 4 or 5 student at Gateway? Field trips!
The first incentive field trip was on Tuesday, Oct. 3. to the M&T Bank stadium in Baltimore where the Ravens play their home games. Level 4 students and some staff took a tour of the coaches’ offices, press boxes, instant replay booth, TV and radio room, locker rooms, and training area.
Mr. Edmondson said that the Ravens’ personnel were, “very welcoming and accommodating. The students were able to see how putting on an NFL game behind the scenes and all the moving parts that goes on while the game is being played.”
Mr. Edmondson thought seeing the students interact in the locker room was really cool. It was such a unique experience, and hopefully, we can do another field trip there again next year.
A few weeks later, on Thursday, Oct. 19, level 4 and 5 Gateway and Crossroads students visited Summer’s Farm in Middletown, MD. The day started off with a wagon ride together through a field. After that, we went off to the attractions including jumping pillows, slides, petting zoo, corn pits, rubber duck racing, tug-o-war, and, of course, the corn maze. There was also food being sold including kettle corn, donuts, cookies, pizza, and apple cider. And before we got on the bus to leave, we stopped at the pumpkin patch to choose pumpkins to take home.
Mrs. Flagg says, “It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors with our students. I am very proud of our students for earning this field trip.”
There are incentive field trips planned throughout the school year. The next incentive field trip is bowling in December with Ms. Pickett. Keep leveling up so you can attend one of these awesome trips!
