Before the break, some Crossroads Middle School students were awarded with a homemade breakfast.
Students set an achievable attendance goal in that they could not miss fewer than 13 days between Oct. 30 and Nov. 21, 2023. Those who achieved this goal received a homemade breakfast from ELA teacher, Mrs. Bosley.
Ms. Bosley made two main dishes: bacon, eggs, cheese, and sausage, and also a hashbrown casserole. She had made both dishes at home and then heated it up at school. Mr. Jones, the assistant principal, helped her as she got to school with carrying things, reheating stuff and whatever else she had needed help with.
“I wanted there to be enough, so I brought more and there was a lot extra to where I could give some away to the staff. It was nice to make their morning,” Mrs. Bosley said.
Those middle school students who did not reach the attendance goal had to sit out of this breakfast. They were still able to receive the breakfast the school provides. Mrs. Bosley said that those students sat out of the activity “because if every student in the long run ended up getting the breakfast, it wouldn’t be fair to the students who actually showed up and participated.”
Ms. Bosley noticed that the breakfast incentive motivated the students to come to school, and when we do this again the attendance goal will be higher, and the incentive will be based on what the students choose.
Her favorite part was getting to hang out with everyone and seeing how much the students really enjoyed it.
This was a good thing for the middle schoolers mainly because everyone likes food and also because it influenced them to come to school knowing they worked toward something nice that the teachers put up for them.
So, middle schoolers, if you want to keep gaining fun rewards in the future, I suggest you continue to wake up and come to school.
