The build-up of plaque and the formation of tartar will lead to tooth decay if not treated by a dentist. Tooth decay can lead to a mess of other dental health issues including bad breath and ultimately tooth loss.

The dentist came to Gateway on Nov. 3, 2022, and they will be coming back on May 3 for a semiannual check-up.

The dentist comes to Gateway twice a year to do basic checkups on students who sign up. “We do this because there are a lot of students who need access to a dentist and this is a convenient way to do it.” 

Currently, 22 students have signed up to visit the dentist. This is double the amount students that signed up the last time the dentist came to Gateway.

After seeing the dentist for their checkups, students receive a form saying how to do basic care and what to do for future dental appointments.
